Former India captain and president of the Bengal Cricket Association, Sourav Ganguly, said Ravi Shastri was the right man as the head coach of Team India. After Anil Kumble’s resignation as head coach in 2017 … when others were not applying for the next coach … there was no other option left but to select Shastri.
Ganguly said that Ravi Shastri has been with the team for five years … he has been able to continue as coach for another two years. In 2007, he was the manager for a tour of Bangladesh. He then served as director of the Indian team in 2014.
“There are 2020 and 2021 T20 World Cups are right there before Ravi Shastri … Ganguly says he should look for ways to lead the team to success. Ravi Shastri has not even presented an ICC trophy to the Indian team. Ganguly responded by saying that … because there are two T20 World Cups in two years … this is a good opportunity for Ravi Shastri. He said he have to keep up the trust.
